Friday, May 15th, 2009What is Trash the Dress? I get several inquiries as to what is trash the dress and I’ll attempt to explain.
Trash the dress is about showcasing the bride and her gown outside the norm and to have loads of fun. After the wedding day, the bride adorns her gown once more for a final farewell photo session to the gown she spent a fortune to wear for only one day. Only instead of posing in some traditional setting, the picture is shot in a back alley, on a skateboard, riding a horse (or tractor!), or even in a water fountain/lake/beach. Not all sessions end up with ruined wedding gowns. Depending on what the bride has in mind, there may only be a tiny bit of dirt (similar to after the reception) on the hem which a dry cleaner can get out. Whatever the setting or idea is, the trash the dress session is guaranteed to be fun, creative, and the results will be some amazing photos.
These Trash the Dress session have become the hot thing in wedding photography for brides who want to add something creative and unconventional to their wedding albums. If a bride is sentimental about archiving the gown, steps can be taken and creative possibilities discussed prior to minimize wear/dirt on the gown. One example, a bride can get a used gown for the the trash the dress session.
For my brides, if you are interested please let me know as Trash the Dress is my creative project this summer and I’d be thrilled to work on a trash the dress project with you!
Yesterday, I shot with the lovely Brittany and Barret at a creative spot in Indy. You can see her dress didn’t get dirty but we had loads of fun and took have some gorgeous photos. To add some flair I made an impromptu bouquet.. I’m proud of my last minute flower skills.

Monday, May 4th, 2009A couple weeks ago I did a horse photography session out in Bloomington/Ellettsville. The horse cantered beautifully and his coat gleamed in the warm spring sunshine. If you are in need of a gorgeous horse, he is for sale, so feel free to contact me and I’ll get you connected with his owner.
