Columbus Indiana Pet Photography: Pierre

Mr. Pierre is a rock star toy poodle. He has all the warmth of a big dog wrapped up in a tiny and sometimes poofy heart. He is sweet, smart, happy, and the poodle behind Pierre’s Pet Salon on 46 West. Megan, the groomer and owner of Pierre’s salon rescued him a couple months ago and he has been her sidekick ever since. I met Megan through Lindsey who is The Pet Nanny in Columbus, Indiana. Lindsey introduced us and I crossed my fingers that I would be able to do a shoot of Pierre one day. Between Megan’s busy grooming schedule (check her out if you have a pet!) and my frenzied summer wedding photography schedule, we finally were able to schedule Pierre’s modeling debut.

He stepped up in my mini-pet studio and rocked the scene! In less than 30 minutes we had several regal portraits, even some with bling. This little man even showed off his “touch” trick where he gives a high five with his cute little poofy paws. Pierre reminded me how much I love pet photography. Being able to capture animals expressive characters makes me love photography all over again.

Indianapolis Engagement photography: Dana + Matt + Jackson

Last Sunday after I was a wedding photographer in Seymour and Doga photographer in Columbus Indiana, I met up with a adorable family at one of my favorite places to shoot in Indianapolis. I’ll be shooting Dana’s wedding for a destination wedding photographers dream: the Dominican Republic. Her wedding is next May and you do not know how excited I am for that. Getting married myself in Guatemala last year, my ideas are running wild for the gorgeous Dana’s day after session in the pueblos of the Dominican. I’ll probably bring a couple extra veils because a girl photographer can never have enough props.

Anyhow, before I get too wrapped up in a lovefest for spanish destination weddings, we had a fun e-session/family session on Sunday bright and early to avoid the mid-day muggy heat. Dana is a girl after my own heart as she picked up balloons for the session. I couldn’t have better clients!!! Along with balloons, I met her son, the handsome Jackson who was such a dream to photograph. He had such fun expressions and kept wanting to show us and smell the flowers. We started with some fun family shots then when Jackson took a siesta with his Grandpa who came to assist, we focused on the more e-session like photos (with balloons!!!). Dana even brought a swanky strapless brown dress with funky heels to change into to give a different flavor to the session. Before I overload on excitement check out the photos and you can see what all my photo joy is about!

Columbus Indiana Engagement Photography::: Courtney + Travis

Last Tuesday I had the honor of photographing an engagement session with Courtney and Travis. The day had been somewhat cloudy but no rain, but as they drove up droplets began to fall; however, that did not deter us from singing in the rain and getting some adorable photos. Courtney’s smile seriously was amazing. Her smile and laugh really lit up her and Travis’s face. With the love and laughter these two share, their upcoming wedding will be lots of fun.

Destination Guatemala: Photography for Seeds of Help

This past week I went on another journey to Guatemala with Seeds of Help (www.seedsofhelp.org). I am their official Guatemalan destination photographer and am happy to come along every year to document all the great things this little non profit with a big heart is accomplishing. In addition to having a preschool and more than 20 women’s groups, hundreds of water tanks, and more… Seeds of Help is making leaps of progress in the “Cumbre” (mountain top of Huehuetenango, Guatemala) by teaching the women nutrition, literacy, gardening, family planning, and  getting children enthused to learn. Seeds of Help is entering their 10th year of operations and I have been happy to volunteer with them in Guatemala for the past 3 years. Each passing year I go to Guatemala, I see how Seeds of Help is improving lives of Guatemalans living in the Cumbre. I could go on and on how amazing these people are who live at 10,0oo+ feet of Guatemala and survive as well as how lucky we Americans are to have education past the 6th grade, but I’ll stop rambling and let the photos speak for themselves. Columbus Wedding Photography::: Beth + Matt

Beth and Math were married on June 6, 2009 in Martinsville, Indiana. Beth was radiant in a gorgeous a-line gown and Matt was GQ in his tux. Their smiles and looks at each other throughout the day were priceless. The church had this unbelievable patch of wild flowers so we utilized that for the before wedding portraits. Gorgeous wedding!

Bloomington Indiana Photography::: Macey!

Sometimes you meet the most inspirational people, and that sometimes happened when I met with Macey last weekend for a shoot. She is an extremely determined person working her way towards competing in a fitness show and if that wasn’t enough she’s in school for law. Not only is she extremely fit, she’s super nice and a joy to photograph and be around.

For Macey’s website http://www.maceyleigh.net/ we worked up some fitness and model concepts to add some more photos to her portfolio. She chopped chicken, she jumped, and even bent into a yoga pose. We laughed almost during the entire session and chatted about fitness, working out, and healthy eating. I really can’t wait to work with this lady again as I know she’s got such a wonderful personality.

Columbus Indiana Wedding Photography::: Trash the dress

Last weekend was a frenzied one… with three shoots in two days I was running around making sure I had the proper batteries, stands, props, and gear. My second of three shoots was with the lovely Misty of Madison, Indiana. She and I had been working on a trash the dress concept involving pink converse sneakers. The son was bright, the sky blue, and blowing a bubble we found is harder to do on the spot!

We started with my new vintage fainting couch in the woods then moved to do some poses in the park. Amelia, my baby barbet, snuck into a few frames (she’s the brown furball). The grand finale was when she tried to blow a bubble on the spot… this proved a theory: sugar free bubble gum produces a much larger and consistent bubble vs the sugary version. Oh, and I threw the flowers together which were bought at the Bloomington Indiana Farmers market (where I met my husband).
