Indianapolis Wedding Photography: Erin + Kyle

This wedding brought me back to the Laguna Beach, California wedding I shot in February. The details in both the brides and bridesmaids hair, jewelry, makeup, and shoes had that “California” vibe.

Indianapolis, Indiana Trash the Dress: Andria

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

Finally, a true trash the dress. In an earlier post this year, I explained what trash the dress means.  Andria posed beautifully and we found out it’s harder to hear while under the waterfall vs underwater. In shooting this, I kept thinking about the RocknRoll bride blog as if you’ve seen her blog it features the most beautiful photography with focus on creativity and “rocknroll” style.

Columbus Indiana Family Photography: The K Family

Monday, July 20th, 2009

It was a gorgeous un-humid July afternoon when I met up with the “K” family and their rambunctious labs, Coco, Thelma, and Louise. The parents babies before the children was their pet lab, Cocoa, so naturally a family portrait would not be complete with out Cocoa, and the two new additions, Thelma and Louise. Pet photography is strangely like toddler/child photography. You have a very small window to get the dogs attention. Well for this on location family photography session, we started outside with the indiana corn growing abundantly around us. I moved them into the shade with my vintage chairs for seating and the mom’s gorgeous echinacea and black eyed susan garden for background ambiance. Gorgeous!

After shooting some at the house, including the family portrait with the tail waggers, we headed over to Mill Race Park in Columbus, Indiana to continue the family shots. Even though we are in Indiana, we were able to find a patch of “mock beach” near the river to get some water and sunset photos that I so loved to do in California.

Columbus Indiana Photography::: The House with the Rock

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

A couple of weeks ago in the midst of photographing a deluge of  June weddings, I shot a beautiful home in Columbus, Indiana. Their home is known for it’s huge rock outside and rightfully so! This rock is great for pick nicks, reading a book, and so many other things. The previous owner’s children assumed the rock would be going with them when they moved– it is that important! It was a wee bit sunny, but the grass glistened with the morning dew and I can not begin to describe how amazing their hydrangeas are! They gave me a bag full and I can not wait to get some roots to start my own hydrangea bushes. These flowers are the size of my head! Besides the flowers, their backyard is stunning! Their pool is a bright turquoise and long enough for you to get a good lap in. By taking photos of this stunning home, I gained an appreciation for the craftsmanship in this house and neighborhood.
