Midwest Trash the Dress: Runaway Bride on her Horse

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

The day after Erin’s gorgeous wedding in Loogootee, Indiana she wanted to do a Trash the Dress session with one of her horses. She hoped on her horse with her gown from That Special Touch in Columbus, Indiana and rode around the Indiana fields. Some of the trees had already started to turn that golden fiery fall color which contrasted nicely with the horse and Erin.

Indianapolis Wedding Gown Designer: Btrousseau

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

A couple weeks ago I met with some of my favorite models and a new favorite fashion designer in Indianapolis to debut her spring 2010 collection. The collection has a very bo-ho goddess feel with colors such as wasabi and a salmon number. I can’t explain it as elegantly as Beth Bennett, the designer of B Troussaeu, but the spring collection just asked for movement. You can see her some of her many creations on etsy as well as online at www.btrousseau.com.

Indianapolis Indiana Pet Photography: Dog Park Days of Summer

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

A couple weeks ago I visited a friend who had a lovely dog park near her home. Among other shoots we did, she took me to the dog park and of I couldn’t help but capture some of the doggy personalities there. Two crazy-eyed (I call dogs with different colored eyed “crazy-eyed”) huskies were there, Abby, Marshay’s lab mix, and several other furry friends.  My favorite shots are of Abby drinking out of a water bottle. She’s one goofy pooch.

Indianapolis Indiana Trash the Dress Photography

A couple wedding photography trends I’m loving are Trash (or Rock) The Dress and Day After Sessions. These both are about donning your wedding dress a couple more times before it goes into hibernation. At my wedding in Antigua, Guatemala last November, my husband and I were so busy the day of the wedding we had little time to have photos of us together, so we chose to do a Day After Session in and around the beautiful streets of Antigua, Guatemala. We put on our wedding attire once more and the photos were much more relaxed than the day of our wedding. I am so thankful to have done those photos!

This summer I have done quite a few Trash the Dress Sessions and I have just finished one of my first mixed Day After/Trash the Dress Session. Being a Columbus Indiana photographer I often work with couples in Indianapolis, Bloomington, and even Cancun, so Indianapolis is a quick hop north. I met with a gorgeous couple at the Indianapolis Museum of Art and we did a Wedding Photography/Day After Session. Sometimes couples choose to do this prior to the wedding as well so they can display a couple prints or a slide show at the wedding reception. My photography goals were to get some dramatic fashion like photos as these two are gorgeous. My job was pretty easy I must say! He wore a beautiful white suit and she had a lithe silk gown. He played the cello, she was a dancer so you can see they had elegant style all their own. From hastas in bloom, to the fedora and vintage suitcases this wedding photography session was all about creativity, space, and creating something new and fresh in Indiana. These photos really feel cinematic to me and show the evolution in photography style I’ve gone through. They scream creative which I love as that’s what I want my work to be!
