Indianapolis Retro Pinup Photography

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Last weekend I photographed the beyond adorable Jess. She has her own vintage clothing line called Rockin B Clothing which you can learn all about on her website. Our theme for the shoot was to capture her style in a vintage/retro pinup themed shoot in Indianapolis. Believe it or not but Jess styles her hair every day in a vintage themed way. She even teaches fellow swing dancers how to emulate her classic pinup hairstyles.

Since it was winter time we shot indoors in a studio setting which also helped us recreate that old school lighting techniques of yesteryear. Our themes were school girl, traveling, beach, and reporter. All had various costumes carefully styled by Jess and props we had jumbled together.

Miracle Mile Chicago Wedding Photography Part II

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

Not much is needed to say about part II of the miracle mile day after session in downtown Chicago. The couple braved the windy city amongst the bustling holiday shoppers for some unforgettable shots. A long flowing veil, dramatic skyline, and again those old school Rolli’s made this session one of my favorites of 2009.

The flow of the veil is so romantic. I adore when brides get long veils and rock them in photos.

Columbus Indiana Young Professional Holiday Party

Monday, January 18th, 2010

In mid-December the Columbus Indiana Young Professionals met for their annual holiday cocktail party. It was held at the swanky Hotel Indigo in downtown Columbus, Indiana. Everyone was in a festive mood and socialized. There was some amazing food and drinks whipped up by the Hotel Indigo bar staff, too.

Miracle Mile Marriott Wedding Photography Session

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

In December, I went to Chicago to have a girls weekend out. The first day I photographed my friend’s engagement session around downtown Chicago. The following day I shot an edgy day after session at the Miracle Mile Marriott in downtown Chicago. The two, Jessica and David, were unbelievably gorgeous, sweet, and very up for the paparazzi.

We started the session in the modern ballroom floor. The session was semi-styled by me as I brought a large ivory fascintator and long sweeping veil to add to the dramatic surroundings. Also we utilized some Venetian masks I had picked up recently in Italy along with some old Rollie’s which added the perfect touch of vintage.

Military Engagement Session in Columbus, Indiana

Friday, January 8th, 2010

Bryan and Jenna are originally from Columbus, Indiana but have been all over the states and world throughout their relationship. Bryan went to the Citadel and now is in the Air Force training to be a pilot. Jenna went to University of South Carolina and studied abroad in India. They are getting married in Columbus this fall so it was only fitting their engagement session was around the many unique places in Columbus.

I have to mention the temperature of the day was a whopping 18 degrees, but Jenna rocked a short sleeve vibrant red blouse and sweater dress with boots I am coveting. At the end of the session, Bryan’s rambunctious Shiba Inu trio made an appearance as the cute couple walked Rocky, Pebbles, and Cody.

Cinque Terre Wedding Photography: Vernazza

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

While hiking through the breathtaking villages of Cinque Terre we came across a Italian wedding ceremony in Vernazza. Being a destination wedding photographer I had to snap some shots of the lovely couple. My favorite was when they tossed handful after handful of candied almonds onto the crowd below. From grandmothers to young children everyone was grabbing candy. It reminded me a tad of how Pinatas are demolished in Guatemala and everyone lunges for the sweets. You have to be careful as you may loose a finger against grandpa!

Zaharakos Wedding Reception in Columbus Indiana

Monday, January 4th, 2010

On New Years Eve there was a spectacular themed wedding reception held at Zaharakos Ice Cream Parlor and Museum in downtown Columbus, Indiana. I was asked by Kim King Smith Events to photograph all the small details she put into this event. From ice cream bowls over flowing with bubble gum pink flowers, candle votive, to the infamous Green River Soda’s lined up on the antique marble counters , this event was planned perfectly by Kim and her team.
