The Flying Cupcake Indianapolis: Engagement Photography

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

Near Broadripple is the original Flying Cupcake shop in Indianapolis. I can not rave ENOUGH about this sweet escape. I wish Columbus or Bloomington, Indiana had one! From the old school decorations to the scrumptious melt-in-your-mouth cupcakes this place is a must stop if you are in Indianapolis. Next door is one of the best jewelry shops, G. Thrapp where my husband bought my tension set engagement ring :) :) . Anyhow I knew this would be a perfect backdrop for part II of the Jessica and Michael engagement photography session.

They chose lemon and dreamsicle cupcakes which contrasted with their blue toned outfits. I captured a couple frames with the sx-70 and hasselblad then switched it around and had them hold it to “take” photos of each other. I adore when a e-session is a mix of traditional portraits with a story. I find those images much more captivating and creative.

As always, thanks Jessica & Michael for choosing me to be your photographer!

Indianapolis, Indiana Photography: Jessica + Michael Engaged!

Monday, March 29th, 2010

I knew from Jessica’s first email where she explained she loved peacock feathers and all things funky that we were going to have an awesome session! I love when clients think outside of the box and want something different as that is where I excel.

We met up on one of those early spring days where the sun was bringing warmth and life to Indianapolis. The daffodils were blooming and people were out and about. To begin our session, we started at a antique mall which had millions of possibilities. Streams of sunlight filled the various nooks providing magical natural light. Jessica and Michael played croquet, shopped for books, hats, and records all the while smiling, laughing and of course cuddling for the camera.

Concluding part I, Jessica and Michael dressed up and we headed over to the flying cupcake, my favorite spot in Broad ripple, Indiana for a desert fix. They didn’t disappoint as the lemon and creamsicle cupcakes were great contrast with Jessica’s bright yellow heels. As the sun began to fade we capitalized on the glittering light off the Indianapolis canal’s and concluded our session.

Now onto the slideshow which I made smaller so it’d load faster.. Photo post coming later! :)

Carmel, Indiana Wedding Photography: Chad + Cheryl

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

I love to photograph weddings, I really do!!  From the beautiful bouquets to the moments brimming with emotion– everything about photographing a wedding makes it the most challenging and rewarding part of my job.

Chad and Cheryl’s wedding was this past Saturday March 20, 2010 in Carmel, Indiana and I was honored to be their photographer. You may remember Cheryl and Chad from their recent e-session on my blog. Like their love in the snow session, their wedding at the United Methodist Church was an equally fun yet intimate family affair. There were so many cute kids in attendance that it was hard not to capture all their silly moments.

Concluding the ceremony, the reception was held at Capri restaurant, a authentic Italian restaurant in Indianapolis. Capri was brimming with charm and Italian accents that brought me back to our Italy honeymoon last fall.Their food was a home cooked Italian affair with fresh tomato and basil mozzarella starters followed by sumptuous family style lasagna.

Now onto the photos…

Seymour + Columbus Indiana E-Session: Stacy + Bobby

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

It finally feels like spring and what a way to start off with a great e-session featuring Stacy + Bobby!

These two are one of those couples who radiate with love for each other. Starting with a joke by Bobby at his expense this session kept everyone laughing. Besides smiling until my cheeks hurt, they turned on the style as Stacy tip toed on her gorgeous high heeled Louboutin’s and her posh green dress. Bobby matched with his stylish argyle sweater and donned a tie later on.

Prior to our session, Stacy sent me some ideas. I knew Seymour, Indiana would have all the perfect backdrops for those ideas. From a old train station, to a fish shack, and eventually to a parking lot, I didn’t want to stop photographing these two! They pulled off all the poses with panache and a smile.

Below are some of their many photos. It was really hard for me to pick just these!
