Vintage Cadillac + Factory 12 loft: Columbus Wedding: Stacy + Bobby

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

Stacy and Bobby are one of those adorable couples that are full of love for each other. In their first look at the Irwin Gardens you can’t miss their pure love for each other. Their epic wedding was full of laughs, amazing details, and of course lots of heart melting emotional moments. So please excuse this extra long post but I absolutely adore this so-in-love couple and their beautiful modern wedding. The reception venue, the Factory 12 loft, was a extraordinary venue with a modern feel in Columbus, Indiana.

Stacy you’re gorgeous!!!!

Stacy’s favorite moment–the first look. I was so nervous walking down the aisle that I cant even really remember it, but I totally remember  the first look because it was just the two of us alone with no one else around and nothing to worry about.

Some more Q and A’s from the bride:
Advice–Try and enjoy the day and evening as much as possible, it will go by so fast!
Change one thing–I wish we could have gotten around to talking to all of the guests, but there were over 200 of our family and friends there and while we tried to make it around to every table, there were still some people that we didn’t get to talk to.

Indianapolis Child Photographer: Max turns the big 1

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

Marcie is an amazing trip and destination wedding concierge. She helped plan Dana + Matt’s wedding in the Dominican Republic last May which I photographed. She has an ADORABLE son, Max, who recently turned the big 1 and of course he needed to have a photo session for his birthday!

I don’t think I can BEGIN to explain how cute this little guy is. He smiled, laughed, and explored while I took photos. There was hardly a bad photo to be taken of this sweet boy! Of course the end of the session was a cake smash. Max had recently had his 1st birthday party so he was privy to the joys of sugar and frosting and was slightly more delicate with the cake… well until he turned it over in the grass.

Puppies, Vintage Cars, and Sunset: Jenna + Bryan get married!

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

I’m not sure how else to describe this wedding but drop dead gorgeous not to mention a plethora of fun photo taking opportunities. Jenna and Bryan are yet another wonderful couple who would do anything for great photos. Their wedding was at the St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Columbus which was a beautiful wash of light for this Grace Kelly bride. Concluding the ceremony, Jenna and Bryan left time for photos around Columbus.

Oddly enough the normally sleepy Columbus, Indiana was awash with vintage cars for a car show which we happened to saunter by for some quick photos. It gets better from there as Jenna and Bryan received two golden retriever puppies, Cooper and Nala, for a wedding present. Well, those two 8 week old balls of golden fur made a quick appearance for some wedding photo gold.

After some wedding puppy photo love, the reception began at the Otter Creek Golf Course which the sunset washed the party in a golden glow. Another quick session with Jenna and Bryan in the fall embers then it was time to cut cake, dance, and toast with wine which Bryan’s French host family sent to him specifically for his nuptials. Also before I begin with photos, I have to say how ingenious Jenna was in her details. Make sure to notice her blinged out kitten slingbacks as she put every last crystal on those shoes. Last but not least she made the catholic train veil, arranged the lush tropical center pieces with her mom, and made the invitations, too!

Bryan just received his wings which you can see with Jenna’s shoes.

Now for some Q and A’s from the Bride:

Favorite moment?
Looking around at dinner and just watching everyone have a great time! And, finding out one of my best friends and her husband are expecting!

Best purchase?
The dress! It was 75% off, though brand new with tags because another girl had purchased it and then disappeared!  Like they always say: one girl’s trash is another girl’s treasure!

Funniest moment?
Looking back at some shots from the bouquet toss…it is apparent who was going to catch the flowers.  She was standing 3 feet in front of everyone!

Advice for future brides?
If you truly have an unlimited budget, you are lucky!  However, if you do have a budget, stick to it.  It is tough to do; there is always one more guest, a few more hors devours, another course at dinner, bigger flowers, fancier tableclothes, etc etc etc.  However, nothing beats showing up on your big day, completely relaxed and ready to have a good time, because you dont have to think about writing checks you cant afford, cutting back for the next two years, fighting with your family.  It’s your wedding day, and you will have a good time – at $2000 or $222,000.

If you could change anything what would it be?
There would never have been a wait at the bar!

HOT Red wedding shoes, umbrellas, and a gorgeous red barn: Maria + Brad

Monday, September 20th, 2010

Maria and Brad married a couple weeks ago just outside Indianapolis in Shelbyville, Indiana. The state had not had rain in weeks but the clouds overhead threatened other wise. However, that didn’t get Maria down as she was prepared with umbrellas and a gorgeous smile. The entire wedding party was so fun to photograph as it took seconds for the group to get everyone laughing. Besides all the smiles, there were some serious details such as the vibrant red shoes, stiletto bridesmaid shoes, Gerber daisy bouquets, and several other special touches.

Below are some of my favorites from their big day.As always it was really hard for me to narrow them down as there were so many touching moments in this wedding.

I love first looks!! These sweet moments before the ceremony are always so sweet as the couple does not have to hold it together during the walk down the aisle.

Brad had a pretty unique wedding ring… Maria said he initially wanted a very plain band but when he went to the jewelry store he decided on a little bling. Nothing wrong with that!

Normally I don’t suggest jumping shots especially with strapless dresses but the group wanted to… flowers went flying but everyone had a blast and the barn made for a fun backdrop

Vintage child photography in Columbus Indiana

Thursday, September 16th, 2010

Autumn, a dear friend and fellow photographer in Lafayette, Indiana recently asked me to take her childrens photos. Being a photographer, it can be really hard to take photos of the ones you love as you get so busy in the grind of churning out others photos. Not to mention children of photographers tend to ignore their parents when they attempt to take their photos.

A couple weeks ago, Autumn brought Alivia and Carter to Columbus, Indiana where I went to work taking their photos. These two were a joy to photograph as Carter was all smiles and cheeks. Alivia was patient and of course adorable. Using several of my vintage chairs, grandmother’s quilt, and vintage books I am thrilled with the results as they are of course unique and not your typical boring studio shots.

Greencrest Manor Battlecreek Michigan Wedding: Shannon + Nate Part I

Tuesday, September 14th, 2010

Shannon and Nate are Clemson graduates now residing in Chicago. Shannon is originally from Michigan and Nate from Charleston. They chose to get married in Michigan as once you see the photos from Greencrest Manor you’ll completely understand. I met Shannon nearly 10 years ago during our freshman year at Clemson. Since then we’ve shared many a’bowls of (Kellogg-Battle Creek reference) cereal, traveled near and far, yet every time I see her and Nate I feel like we pick up exactly where we left off. Now she and Nate are married and I was being ecstatic to capture their big day on film as well as a roll of analog.
