Indianapolis Family Photographer: Chad + Cheryl

Friday, August 20th, 2010

I love to phtoograph Chad and Cheryl as they are so nice not to mention a gorgeous couple. Last February I captured their engagement session in the bitter cold snow yet they were all smiles which you can see those pics here. Then a few weeks later was their intimate wedding which had some of the most adorable and hilarious children in attendance. You can check out their soiree here.

Months later they contacted me again for a casual family session. We met downtown Indianapolis at the Canal and the four made my job easy.

Cake Smash, baby tutus, and Olivia turns 1

Thursday, August 12th, 2010

A couple of weeks ago I photographed this beautiful little girl right before she turned 1. Her mom had the most adorable outfits from Etsy as well as a teeny tiny birthday cake and pink party hat. We photographed at the baby’s grandmothers home which was a stunning backdrop as there were hasta gardens and plenty of black eyed susan flowers.  It was Olivia’s mom’s idea to partake in a cake smash which was so funny to watch and photograph. Great idea for a baby photo session!

Alexandria Virginia Family Photographer: Sisters

Friday, April 30th, 2010

Yet another Alexandria, Virginia session!!  Not only did I shoot a bridal session and vintage wedding session but I also had a quick Family/Child shoot. These two adorable girls were camera ready and beyond easy to photograph. We started at the “magic light hour” which helped create that soft glow around the girls. We asked the girls to laugh and they could hardly stop! It’s sessions like these that really make me love my job!

Antique Baby Photography Session in Seymour Indiana

Monday, February 8th, 2010

It was super bowl Sunday but my passion and life lies in taking photos so I scheduled a baby photography session in Seymour, Indiana. The snow from the day before provided wonderful natural light through the windows allowing me to use my 85mm 1.4 to capture the soft joy of baby Aubrey.

This adorable redheaded girl was a true joy to photograph. Her eyes lit up and toothless mouth smiled and laughed at her parents who stood behind me making silly faces. I brought some vintage props (antique Easter dress, chair, rollie, etc) and we went along with ‘bre’s mood. She didn’t shed a tear, although we did get some of those baby confused looks as if she was thinking “really you want me to sit in a basket and smile?”

I can not wait until her 1st birthday as I’m already thinking of the fun this baby will have in having her first cake.

Cupcake and City Lights for an Indianapolis Child Photography Session

Monday, February 8th, 2010

Little Ms. Em is quite the adorable character, so a standard boring child photography session wouldn’t cut it for her. We put our creative hats on and decided to come up with a theme and story to make her session in Indianapolis ultra unique.

We started at a vintage cupcake shop in Indianapolis and Em turned on the charm. Her adorable big blue-green eyes sparkled next to those scrumptious cupcakes. After shooting next to those sugery confections, welet the girl finally divulge then headed onward to the Circle in Indianapolis.

She held out in the frosty cold laughing, smiling, and being a great subject. The buildings lights shimmered behind her creating a truly gorgeous backdrop.

Help Portrait Indianapolis 12/19/2009

Monday, December 21st, 2009

It is that time of year again where snow is falling, gifts are being wrapped, and feasts are being cooked. A group of photographers, stylists, make up artists, and several others decided we wanted to take a day and pay it forward by photographing families at the women’s shelter in downtown Indianapolis. The idea to volunteer through photos was started by Help Portrait and the effort ballooned across the globe the 12th and 19th of December.

Starting with complete make overs including hair, makeup and styling these women came out refreshed and renewed. Once done with their makeovers, a team of photographers, including myself, were there ready to make them feel beautiful on film. After the photo session, the photos were whisked away to be printed and delivered that day.

The most memorable moment for me was after mother and son’s photo session, the mom gave me a hug and told me these were the first photos she’s ever had taken with her son.

I can not post photos from this event to protect the privacy of the woman but I can post a photo of the photographers and forward you to a link about our event. http://salvationarmyindiana.org/2009/women-and-childrens-shelter-hosts-help-portrait-indy-2009/

Columbus Indiana Family Photography: Mill Race Park + Zaharakos

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

It was a chilly autumn Sunday morning when I met up with Caroline Callahan to do a very special family session. She is originally from Indiana and went to Indiana University in Bloomington and now resides in New York City working for Seventeen magazine. Caroline wanted to do a photo journalistic style shoot capturing her, her husband, and her grandparents.

To start our session, we met up at Mill Race Park in Columbus, Indiana to shoot with the gorgeous foliage as a backdrop. We set up my vintage couches on top of the hill in the park and I started shooting away.

After our informal family shots at Mill Race, we headed over to the newly renovated old-fashion ice cream parlor Zaharakos. There, they ordered a Chocolate Malt and all took turns sharing which of course I took photos of! Her Grandparents have lived in Columbus for several years and were so great to take photos of. Also, they have been married for over 50 years which makes my heart melt in adoration.
