Our version of the Julie and Julia project

Friday, August 20th, 2010

My husband and I have been commissioned to cook 100 recipes and photograph them in less then a month!!! Unlike the aforementioned title, we are not keeping up like Julia in daily blogging as we are averaging 8 recipes a day. We’re hoping to keep up the pace as the deadline is days away. Most of the food is comfort and soul food with lots of casseroles, pies, and biscuits. Today we made apple pie with crumble topping, Kentucky pie, brisket, cheesy chicken casserole, cheesecake, and a potato salad. Tomorrow will be cinnamon roles, chocolate skillet pie, coconut cake, layered German chocolate cake, coconut pudding, Texas rice casserole, and several others.

Needless to say I’m way behind in blogging some of the other sessions (a nature engagement session, cowboy boot wedding, film wedding feature, experimenting with Polaroids, and so forth). Once I whip up my last comfort confection I’ll be hitting my blog hard with updates.

Until then feast your eyes on some pie. Oh, and if you are in the Columbus, Indiana area come by and take some leftovers home with you. No joking around here.

Indiana Food & Pet Photography: Dog Bone Gourmet Bakery

Monday, December 28th, 2009

There is a great new company out of Columbus, Indiana called the Dog Bone Gourmet Bakery. They are providing natural homemade treats for dogs. Some are specifically made for dogs with allergies. The owner, Lindsey Turner, contacted me as she wanted to showcase some clean photos of her products as well as her new packaging and logo.

Right away I knew Lola, my chihuahua, had to be the model. Her expressions are always hilarious and for this shoot she did not let me down. She was patient and waited for her command to eat the treat. Also modeling was Treasure and Cleo my Barbet. They were not keen on waiting to eat the treat so there were crumbs all over after their pet photography modeling debut.

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

I have been commissioned to shoot some popcorn, caramel apple, and fudge for an new online store selling said items (and more). This was a fun shoot as all involved got plenty of sweet samples. My chihuahua Lola was on clean up crew and was sure to pick up any stray popcorn pieces.

My favorite restaurant in Columbus, Indiana is New Japan. In these past three weeks I believe I have been there 3 times? Their sushi is perfection. Always beautifully presented, great flavors, and there are always new things on the menu I learn about and try. Here are some photos of their sushi. Yum! 67-of-92-copysushi new japan I
