2011 World Dog Show in Paris: Macaron & Baguette

Saturday, December 3rd, 2011

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything personal, but my 2011 World Dog Show images from Paris were too scrumptious to not share. Fair warning, I’m a foodie and after making 1000s of macarons in America, I know what a macaron should look and taste like.

Baguettes and Macaron, are two tasty french delicacies I lived on for the World Dog Show Week. I started by visiting the creme de la creme of Macaron bakers, Pierre Herme and Lauderee. 100+ Euros later, I had two beautiful boxes, the Lauderee I still have as a memento, of uniquely flavored Macaron. Hands down, Lauderee  to me, tasted the best as well as superior in structure, and packaging. Their pale blue box was delicate, beautiful, and sturdy to withstand one tired American’s stumble down subway stairs. Pierre Herme, with no tripping, were completely squished after a stoll around Paris.

240Sweet Artisan Marshmallows: Midwest Food Photography

Sunday, February 27th, 2011

In addition to dark Guatemalan roast french press java, 240Sweet’s artisan marshmallows have become a food group for me. I have photographed food before, yet these marshmallows look more like mini sculptures. Especially my favorite, Salty Caramel Twist with it’s decadent rich layers of fleur de sal caramel twisting between the Tahitian vanilla layers. In this past year I have photographed over half of their 80+ unique flavors and have designed their website.  Take a peek at their website as well as some photos below of their glorious artisan puffs. Drooling is ok.

Claudia’s Florabunda Florist in Columbus Indiana

Monday, February 1st, 2010

January 31 was the big day for Columbus Indiana’s Annual Bridal Fair. Claudia’s Florabunda, a modern florist in Columbus, Indiana, and several other fabulous vendors in southern Indiana put out their best work.

Claudia’s pulled out no stops in prepping beautiful displays and bouquets. While they were adding their finishing touches  I snapped some shots of their floral art in their shop on 4240 W. Jonathan Moore Pike. I particularly love the peacock feathers in the bouquet!

Bloomington Cooking School: Food Photography

Monday, December 14th, 2009

If you live in the Southern Indiana area you should check out Bloomington Cooking School. It is a great place to spend a couple hours and to learn a new cooking technique. I photographed the French Winter Menu at Home with Monique Jamet Hooker. The cooking school is located downtown Bloomington on the square across from the courthouse and near the Scholar’s Inn Bakehouse.

The menu was exquisite consisting of cassoulet, french onion soup, and caramelized pear with hazelnut crackers. The teacher, Monique diced, chopped, and stirred her way in front of the small intimate class teaching them at each turn.

Columbus Indiana Photography::: The House with the Rock

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

A couple of weeks ago in the midst of photographing a deluge of  June weddings, I shot a beautiful home in Columbus, Indiana. Their home is known for it’s huge rock outside and rightfully so! This rock is great for pick nicks, reading a book, and so many other things. The previous owner’s children assumed the rock would be going with them when they moved– it is that important! It was a wee bit sunny, but the grass glistened with the morning dew and I can not begin to describe how amazing their hydrangeas are! They gave me a bag full and I can not wait to get some roots to start my own hydrangea bushes. These flowers are the size of my head! Besides the flowers, their backyard is stunning! Their pool is a bright turquoise and long enough for you to get a good lap in. By taking photos of this stunning home, I gained an appreciation for the craftsmanship in this house and neighborhood.

Midwest Product Photographer: Toms California Popcorn Shoot

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

I have been commissioned to shoot some popcorn, caramel apple, and fudge for an new online store selling said items (and more). This was a fun shoot as all involved got plenty of sweet samples. My chihuahua Lola was on clean up crew and was sure to pick up any stray popcorn pieces.
