I was super excited for this session as Shena and I have been chatting several weeks about ideas and props for her engagement session. She brought books, a scrabble board, photos of the two as children, bubble gum, and her adorable dog Buddha. When clients really bring their personalities it makes me so so happy as I’m able to reflect who they are and what they like to do in their session. Although it was a super windy day and apparently the FFA annual gathering in Indianapolis, this session as you’ll see below was full of Jeff and Shena’s character.
How and when did he propose? Jeff proposed on January 8, 2010. We were on a cruise with my family that week. We had discussed shopping for rings in St. Thomas, and that’s where we ended up finding the perfect ring: dainty and yellow gold. He bought it on Wednesday, but he didn’t propose until Friday. . . which was actually quite a long wait.
We didn’t want to make a big to-do of it, so he proposed in our stateroom before dinner (I said “yeah”) and then we ordered a cake to eat after dinner (“Shena’s Cake”). When we got off the ship, I texted Brandi and Katie (my best friends) saying, “Btw, he liked it, put a ring on it, etc.” It was nice having a bit of a delay between our engagement and telling the whole world.
Explain your nuptials as they are really unique: We are actually doing Engagement Cruise Redux for the wedding. We have a seven day cruise out of Miami planned for the end of March 2011. We will be married on a beach in St. Thomas, where we will be docked for the day off the Carnival Glory. We’ll have a short ceremony, with cupcakes and rum punch to celebrate afterward. We have about 40 friends and family members sailing with us. We’re looking forward to having a great vacation with everyone, plus a little side trip in the middle of the week to get hitched.
Your favorite part of the e-session? My favorite part of the e-session was at the very end when we had the Scrabble board and cameras in front of the State Museum, probably because there was no Buddha barking (poor Buddha. . .) and there were fewer blue corduroy-clad FFA kids to contend with. Jeff’s favorite part was being in the weeds at the museum.
