Seymour Indiana Wedding Photography: Amy + Mike get married

Sunday, August 29th, 2010

What a beautiful late summer wedding Amy and Mike had. Between the forest decorated cake, diy table decorations, the thumb print guest tree, colored straws, and vibrant bouquets this wedding was a joy for me to photograph. I loved all of the memorable photo locations such as the fire tower and the sunset shots in the vineyards of Chateau De Pique. As always, I had a wonderful time working with the couple and their families.

Being these two work in the state parks, it was only appropriate we go to a small park near Brownsburg to climb the fire tower. I love when couples have creative ideas all their own!

Amazing cake made by Mike’s Aunt. The bases, both fathers of the couple cut down stumps and then Amy covered the bases with moss. Very appropriate cake for two foresters.

Slightly obsessed with the table decorations. They were small flowers made of twigs and colorful paper. So many great DIY ideas from this wedding!!

Grandma was taking photos with an an adorable old camera and the flower girl was precious. She picked up all the roses down the aisle after the wedding.

A Vespa and Polaroid Elopement: Aditi and Ranjit

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

Aditi and Ranjit met in India and currently live in Columbus, Indiana. They elopes as most of their friends and family are far away, yet, it wasn’t a secret as most loved ones knew they were getting married. The two will have a small family party later to celebrate their nuptials. The setting midwest sun, queens anne lace, and gorgeous bcbg dress really were so simple and beautiful. I adore the emotion and love I was able to capture for them.

Sarah + Andrew’s Engagement Session in Columbus, Indiana

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

Andrew’s proposal story: “As for how we met and the proposal, we had mutual friends, and the proposal, well we’ll just say it was impromptu and poorly prepared. I had had the ring for a couple of months, trying to wait for the right time, but I couldn’t wait any longer to ask and just decided to ask her one night while laying in bed. Not the storybook scenario, but that’s our story!”

Our photo session started at Zaharakos, a old fashioned ice cream parlor in Columbus, Indiana. They shared a root beer float making a mess but laughing the entire time. We moved to Washington Street and kept on shooting. I love to make couples enjoy each other and these two certainly did!! Sarah’s cute polka dot dress, beautiful dark hair, and bright eyes really lit up every time Andrew kissed her. The peony bouquet from the Bloomington Farmers Market was a fun prop that we threw into a couple photos.

I’ve been reading Bob Davis’s Lights, Camera, Capture: Creative Lighting and the parking lot was a perfect place to play with off camera lighting. The stark contrast of the empty garage and fun lighting made for some dramatic photos that I LOVE and hope Sarah and Andrew do, too.

We’re going to do part II of our session later this week as it began to get atmospheric. I’m hoping for a killer sunset to get that romantic glow on this cute couple.

Engagment Photos at Zaharakos in Columbus Indiana

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

Ever since Zaharakos reopened this past summer in Columbus, Indiana, I have been a frequent visitor. Their antique marble counters, endless array of vintage decorations, and delicious hand made ice cream have rejuvenated the flavor of Columbus, Indiana. I often like to meet clients there to chat over a malt complete with old school paper straws.

Right before Christmas, I met with an adorable couple who are getting married in Brown County in August 2010. While chatting about their upcoming wedding, we found out we have heaps in common. They had both graduated from Clemson in 2005 (I graduated in 2006) we shared a couple friends and great love for Clemson University (GO TIGERS!). What a small world! They now live in Illinois and decided a good mid way point for their wedding is Nashville/Brown County Indiana. I’ll be shooting their wedding and I am teaming with outdoorsy wedding photography ideas.

While at Zaharakos, I couldn’t help but take a couple quick engagement photos for them. Their Zaharakos Special: an ice cream sundae and malt was too cute to pass up on photos. We also shot some photos in the museum side of Zaharakos along with some shots on Washington Street with the Christmas lights glittering as a backdrop.

Indianapolis Wedding Photography: Ashley and Scott

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

On October 17th, 2009, Ashley and Scott’s friends and family came together at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Indianapolis, Indiana for their wedding. Outside the church, the trees were a vibrant orange, yellow, and red. The skies alternated between sunny to overcast which many which didn’t bother me as overcast skies ROCK for wedding photography!!

After the  ceremony the wedding party and I headed to the Ellenberger park in Indianapolis for some fun informal shots. The girls donned the men’s tux jackets (it was chilly) and Ashley and Scott were ravishing with the leaves falling behind them. They were such a sweet couple as I spotted a cute pug in the park, Lily, and they took some photos with her as why not?

The reception was a short drive away in Reelsville. I can’t even give words to the beautiful land Ashely’s parents have there. They set up an enormous white tent with heaters (thank you!!). The bride and groom joined soon after on a mule drawn carriage with a hand painted just married sign on the back. Toasts, great food, surprise fireworks, plenty of dancing, and a toasty glowing bonfire rounded out their gorgeous wedding day.

Enough rambling, thank you Ashley and Scott for choosing me to be your photographer! Here are some of their many beautiful photos:

Indiananapolis Wedding Dress Designer: Btrousseau ROCKS!

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

Last week I met up with Beth Bennett, my favorite fashion designer in the mid-west, to do a quickie “Rock the Dress” mock bridal shoot. The shoot was less than 30 minutes, but with Steph and that dress it was a breeze to get heaps of beautiful photos. You can see more of Beth’s many creations on etsy as well as online at www.btrousseau.com. If you are a bride wanting something really unique I urge you to contact Beth!

The model, Stephanie, had on Beth’s newest creation. It was a lovely tea length lace applique wedding dress that was vintage like and timeless in it’s own right. I hope to see more of these dresses on brides in the near future.  I can’t forget to mention the caged veil headband and jeweled headband Beth made. Both were extremely well made and delicate in appearance. I want to shoot more of these gorgeous creations Beth!!!
