Meet Violet. In the below photos, she was 8 weeks old. This wee boxer puppy traveled from Indianapolis to Columbus for a quick summer time puppy shoot. Who doesn’t love a floppy, happy, cute puppy face?

Indianapolis Pet Photography: Bailey and Rosie Yorkie Session

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

A couple weeks ago I met up with Amanda in Columbus Indiana to photograph her two wee Yorkshire dogs. Their names are Bailey and Rosie and they were pretty darn cute and patient. Amanda brought various outfits and treats for them and the session was a breeze. Here are a couple highlights from our session.

Barbet and Portuguese Water Dog: Indiana Dog Photography

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

What you may not know about me– especially if you are a new client or haven’t been over to my house, is that I am a HUGE dog lover. On our 11 acre wooded bliss near Brown County/Nashville, Indiana we have 6 dogs which ironically one, Belle, came with the house. At Clemson, I obtained Lola, a 7 pound spit fire of a chihuahua. Then I met Walter’s dog, a Barbet which is a French Water Dog and fell in love. You can learn all about them at American Barbet.

We had our first litter of Barbet puppies in 2007 which spurred me on to get one from France in 2008 then we had another litter in 2009. From that I kept one, Amelia (or Lia) for short, got two from Canada, and rescued another.

One of our Barbet, Dynastie (aka Dyna) we gave to my sister in law in the DC area. While my sister in law took the kids on spring break, I came out and babysit Dyna. Two houses down lives Prince, a peppy Portuguese Water dog. Dyna and Prince have become best of friends and they both love to hop in and out of Nancy’s little pond.

Here are some photos of the dynamic water dog duo having a blast in Nancy’s gorgeous backyard.

Italy Barbet Pet Photography | Barbet in Cinque Terre

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

While in Italy, my husband met me in Florence to start our belated honeymoon. We chose to wait a year as we were wed in Guatemala on Nov 1, 2009 and after that trip and the holidays we were exhausted. While in Italy, we headed to the northwestern part of La Spezia and Cinque Terre which is known as the Italian Rivera. Besides wanting to hike between the villages of Cinque Terre, we were there to visit a Barbet breeder (and now friend) Ezia. Ezia is responsible for my male, Cinna who I got in France over 2 years ago. She has several beautiful Barbet and is working hard to preserve the old Barbet bloodlines. Not only is she a great breeder, Ezia is a amazing groomer with the most muscular arms I have ever seen. She taught me some tips and techniques to manage my pack of Barbet in America.

If you do not know what Barbet are that is quite ok as there are around 1100 in the world and around 50 in The United States of America. They are French Water Dogs and said to be the ancestor of the Briar and Bichon, and close cousins with the Poodle, Portuguese Water Dog and Spanish Water Dog. Besides photography, Barbet are my passion. My sister-in-law brought one back almost 10 years ago and ever since then I’ve been in love and used my design abilities to make a website to promote the Barbet. Now I am the President of the Barbet Fanciers Club of America and am working diligently for full recognition for the Barbet in the AKC.  You can read more about Barbet at www.americanbarbet.com or at www.barbetfanciers.com

Indianapolis Indiana Pet Photography: Dog Park Days of Summer

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

A couple weeks ago I visited a friend who had a lovely dog park near her home. Among other shoots we did, she took me to the dog park and of I couldn’t help but capture some of the doggy personalities there. Two crazy-eyed (I call dogs with different colored eyed “crazy-eyed”) huskies were there, Abby, Marshay’s lab mix, and several other furry friends.  My favorite shots are of Abby drinking out of a water bottle. She’s one goofy pooch.
