Arts Garden Conrad Indianapolis Spring Wedding

Lauren + Drew’s Conrad and Arts Garden Indianapolis Spring Wedding

Where to begin on this beautiful couple’s day? They had a stunning spring day for their nuptial celebrations. Lauren and Drew have so much style, too. From Lauren’s stunning off the shoulder gown fit for a royal to Drew’s two tux jackets, these two had a next level wedding. The candles on the steps of the Arts Garden was such a unique backdrop for their reception. Kudos to Courtney at Violets are Blue for getting all of the candles set up and lit. The place twinkled all night. Cheers to the newlyweds and thank you for having us capture your day!

Q+A with the lovely couple:

Wedding synopsis/overview of the day? When looking for a venue, we really wanted something light and bright and what better place than the Arts Garden?! We had originally booked the venue in August of 2019 for a 2020 date, but we never imagined a global pandemic changing our plans. We were so fortunate to be able to successfully rebook for a 2021 date when things were safer and people felt more comfortable gathering together. As for the decor, we wanted to keep it classic with tons of candles to elevate the ambiance. Our florist, Courtney with Violets are Blue could not have done a better job bringing our vision to life. She truly went above and beyond. The candles on the stairs were incredible and all her idea! We were in love with it all! With the tremendous help of Kelly Robertson at the Conrad, the day went seamlessly (I firmly believe every bride needs a Kelly) and if there was an issue behind the scene, I never heard about it which was greatly appreciated. The ceremony was beautiful and we were able to take some truly magical pictures at Newfields before heading to the reception. We wanted everyone to eat, drink and dance at our reception and I would say we definitely achieved that goal. Overall, we couldn’t have asked for a better day. We were so lucky to be able to finally celebrate with our friends and loved ones!

What inspired your wedding style? There is a photo of Drew’s YiaYia and Papou from their wedding day and it was so elegant and if you didn’t know it, you would have thought it was taken a few years ago it was truly timeless. We also love classic movies and music and the style that accompanied that era and that’s something we wanted to weave into the day. After seeing some of our pictures, I really think we nailed it. (thank you, Stacy!!)

Anecdotes about your gown? In keeping with the wedding style, I wanted a gown that wasn’t too trendy but was still very beautiful. Being a COVID bride, there was quite a bit of time between when I first “said yes to the dress” and our actual wedding date so I think that made walking down the aisle and some of those first reactions that much more magical. Also, Drew likes to pull pranks and tricks on me a lot, so I told him my dress was black and he believed me all the way up until he saw me walking down that aisle. I finally got him back!

Funniest moment(s)? There are a couple! 1. I love the cute feather pajamas that are so popular right now so I had all of the girls wear those when getting ready. What I didn’t realize is that those feathers shed and you step on them when walking around so everywhere throughout the hotel I kept finding feathers – in the elevator, in the restroom, in the hallway, in the lobby literally everywhere! Oops! 2. The boys heard the Lakers were staying at our hotel and were immediately super excited at the thought of seeing some players. Finally, as the boys were having lunch outside the team boards the bus and the guys go crazy (think major fangirl moment!) they took pictures and video and got to see LeBron, which was the icing on top of an already incredible day.

First Dance Songs? These were surprisingly hard to select! Mother/Son – The only fan by the Backstreet Boys which Drew’s mom selected, Father/Daughter – How sweet it is by James Taylor which my father selected, and First Dance – It had to be you by Frank Sinatra, a classic that we love!
