Laura and Matt are getting married at one of the coolest venues in Cincinnati called Urban Artifact Brewery. It is a church that was going to be torn down but the Urban Artifact Brewery took over. I met up with the couple at the Brewery for a quick tour. Then, we headed onward for their spring engagement portraits. They suggested a cemetery which may sound weird, but it was incredible! There were so many architectural elements and blooming trees for gorgeous backdrops. I may have gotten far too excited in chatting Game of Thrones with them, too.  I can’t wait to see these two again in late October!

Laura + Matt’s Q+A:

How did you two meet? Matt and I have known each other for a decade. We met through mutual friends while we were in the less mature stages of our lives. We remained friends through the next six years, sharing funny videos or movies/tv shows we thought the other would like. One evening while getting ready to visit with friends I received a text from Matt telling me he had swiped right on my profile on a popular dating app. I quickly asked him if he’d like to hang out that night and we’ve been together ever since.

How did he propose? Matt was tricky when deciding to propose, I have a family ring that he has had in his desk for over a year. While planning a trip to New York City with our friends for his 30th birthday, he was also planning to surprise me. He purposely did not pack the ring until the very last second, even then he gave it to a trusted friend in case I snooped. We enjoyed two lovely days traveling around NYC. Our final night in the city we had reservations at a fancy restaurant, Matt had bought me a new dress and shoes to wear to dinner earlier that day. We decided to have drinks on the rooftop bar of a hotel before dinner, while taking pictures of the city he wrapped his arms around me and was telling me how much he loved me and promptly said that he had a question. In front of our close friends, with the glow of New York City behind us, he asked me to be his wife.
