Colorful Columbus Indiana wedding at the Commons

Andrea and Chris were a dream to work with. For starters, they gave me ample time to take portraits of the two and bridal party around downtown Columbus. They were not phased by a short summer pop up shower, either. Their love for each other, family, and friends was evident throughout the day which was beautiful to photograph!

It was also really special to be working with the southern Indiana wedding professional dream team including Frame Worthy Events, Leslie with Leslie Hair and Makeup/Indy Bridal co, Pomp and Bloom, Icing on the Cake by Kristina Taylor, and Alan with Audio Magic Entertainment. All of these professionals kept the day running smoothly! The florals by Pomp and Bloom were increcible. Gina has a way of knocking it out of the park time and again.

Thank you Andrea and Chris for having me document your day. I’m so thankful to work with such awesome couples like you two!

Bride + Groom Q+A

Overview of your day? We love living in Columbus and wanted our family and friends to come experience it, too! We tried to pick as many local vendors as we possibly could – nearly everyone who helped with our day is from southern Indiana or has southern Indiana ties. We loved The Commons for its high ceilings and beautiful natural light, as well as its downtown location for our out-of-town guests. We wanted a romantic yet modern, clean, and simple feel. We chose June 1 because we love that time of year (although it ended up being much warmer than average on our wedding day!) and we got engaged on July 1 the year before. We thought the day went wonderfully and was perfect for us!

Your gown? I had the hardest time finding my dress and didn’t find this one until the fifth salon I’d gone to. I felt so bad because my mom wasn’t with me – just my dad and grandma came that time! I am not terribly emotional and didn’t have a “bridal moment” but loved the lace, the unique details, and felt it had just the right amount of bling.

Favorite Moment? It’s hard to choose just one favorite moment, but one of our favorite moments was our first look. We were both nervous (although Chris was especially so!), so it calmed us both down to see each other before the ceremony. We chose to write letters and read them to each other during this time. It was so nice to have some time together as just the two of us and to really center on what the day is about.

Funniest moment? I didn’t notice it at the time, but one of the funniest moments was during my first dance with my dad. After dancing to “Isn’t She Lovely” for a bit, the song broke into “Night Fever” and we started some disco moves. I later found out that Chris’s 6-year-old son, Bradley, was on stage behind us doing disco moves himself!

First Dance? Our first dance was to “Come to Me” by the Goo Goo Dolls.
