Emily + Nick’s Fall Columbia Club Wedding
Emily and Nick wanted an elegant fall wedding in Indy and that is exactly what they had. The Columbia club had the most gorgeous early fall sun beams streaming in through the old stained glass windows. Emily was a vision in her Marie Gabriel gown. Nick definitely looked like an old Hollywood dapper gentlemen as well. Their reception florals was done by one of my favorites, RK Florals. The whole day came together due to planner Emily flawlessly making bride Emily’s day perfect. The couple and their families were so gracious and easy to work with– truly a beautiful wedding I won’t forget!
Couple Interview:
When we first got engaged, we weren’t sure if we’d get married in California or Indiana. But we knew that week in Sayulita, that 2020 was going to be our year. Mind you, this was in January of 2017. After long thought, Indiana was chosen, as I wanted to showcase Indianapolis as almost an official send off to my new life chapter in California. So the venue was extremely important in anchoring the beautiful memories of our event. We looked at a handful of wonderful options but they just didn’t feel right. The minute we saw the stained glass windows, stunning chandeliers, marble floors, and other ornate and heuristic details of the Columbia Club, it was an easy decision from there. The decision to keep things timeless with black and white and accented with live candles was more about embracing the evening atmosphere to create an intimate event for our closest friends and family. The flower arrangement and touch of greenery were the perfect accent of California meets Indiana.
Tapping into the authentic aesthetics of our life, we tried to replicate that vision with a polished touch. Thanks to Emily Ventura Designs, they put our confusing “wants” into a streamlined vision, and connected us with the best vendors to bring that vision to life seamlessly.
My mom, who’s my best friend, wore sleeves on her wedding day! Aside from always being cold, I knew sleeves were an idea I wanted to test when trying on. Luckily, on a visit to MGC that was just to try on dresses with my mom while I was in town visiting, we went on a dress journey and found the one. It took about 13 different dresses, starting in a very simple, chic look that underwhelmed, and progressed through the ethereal phase to find my Dany Tabet beauty waiting to sparkle with a little bling, pearl AND lace. I was in heaven. And my mom liked it too! It was a done deal when they added the veil that had the edges kisses with pearls and swarovski crystals..
The ceremony was so special. Getting to walk down the aisle with my dad. Seeing all of my favorite people lined up waiting for us to be make our commitment. Praying with our immediate family was so sweet. Dancing with my dad and Nick. Seeing Nick dance with his mom. The after party on the dance floor! The wonderfully delicious food. The tiny cocktail sip with Nick just before our guests arrived (after photos). Taking photos on the circle… it was so special!
Funniest moment(s)? My Dad fist-bumping my friend down the aisle. My niece throwing flowers from her seat once we were announced husband and wife. Nick getting and finishing two steaks with dinner!
