Catherine + Jordan’s Columbus Indiana Commons Blush and Navy Winter Wedding

Catherine and Jordan’s excitement over their celebrations was contagious. Every time we would meet to plan and talk about photos, Catherine was so giddy and excited. Naturally on their wedding day, the pair were beyond a pleasure to work with. Their bridal party was also so sweet, kind, and helpful. They tossed me a few bags of goldfish crackers which made me endlessly happy.

For Catherine and Jordan’s portraits, we went to Donner Park, where Catherine grew up. Then, jaunted over the always gorgeous COB which made for a fairy tale backdrop. We ended our photo journey at the Commons where Catherine just HAD to twirl with her That Special Touch blush ball gown.

Bride + Groom Q+A:

When we got engaged in August, we knew we didn’t want a long engagement. Between work schedules and other weddings, we eliminated a few months in 2017 until we got to March or May. The vendors I wanted to work with were all available in March, and once the church finalized our date, we settled on March 11! We were so fortunate that everything went perfectly that day. I honestly couldn’t think of anything that went wrong – even the cold weather couldn’t tamper the party! I think the best part about the day was how much fun we both had. Neither of us could stop smiling!

Favorite moment(s)? Catherine: seeing Jordan for the first time. I didn’t expect him to be crying and almost lost it when I saw him! I also loved having fun with the bridal party on the party bus. And the late night snack of Becker’s coneys was really special – my uncle Bill made coney sauce just for that day!

Jordan: The bus ride after the ceremony with the bridal party and walking down the aisle after we were married. Obviously, seeing Catherine for the first time that day was the top moment, but I was more happy once we were together. I also loved being on the dance floor with everyone.

Funniest moment? After we exited the church once the ceremony was over, Jordan discovered the tags of his suit were still inside his lapel – he forgot to cut them off!

First Dance Songs: “Fly Me to the Moon,” by Frank Sinatra, a nod to Kirkwood Observatory where we got engaged and one of our favorite traditions of dancing in the kitchen during Friday night jazz on WFIU. As we were dancing, we saw the moon through the windows – it couldn’t have been more perfect!
