Caitlyn + Dane’s 1.11.2020 Winter wedding in Columbus Indiana at the Commons and Irwin Gardens
This charming couple had their winter wedding in Columbus, Indiana on a blustery day. They, and their family and friends, did not let the weather get them down. Caitlyn and Dane celebrated throughout the day and you could feel how loved they were. Their sweet new lab puppy joined for a few photos, too. The pup even took her time smelling the gorgeous bouquet by Pomp and Bloom. No detail was left unnoticed. From an incredible taco bar for dinner (seriously yum), to the most stunning florals, lighting, and even personalized gifts for their bridal party, Caitlyn and Dane know how to throw a party. Thank you both so much in having Walter and I be a part of your day.
Q+A with Bride and Groom:
Wedding overview: Sooo we chose the date based on a few things: We love winter. We love cold weather and Dane sweats A LOT in the summer so we knew it had to be cooler. We also LOVE downtown Columbus in the winter. It is our favorite time of the year with all of the lights covering Washington St. The atmosphere. Everything – it’s literally like a Hallmark movie.
We chose the venue because we wanted to be able to see the lights downtown from inside and the Commons is the perfect location for that. It’s also very spacious and open so it was beautiful.
For decor – We wanted classy, but with some color. So everything was very winter, black, white, silver with sparkly stuff here and there, but the COLOR came from the beautiful flowers from Pomp&Bloom.
The time of year. I knew it would be gorgeous to have a black tie event yet with the sparkle and color – it would be extremely classy. Dane and I love a good reason to dress up so why not make it your wedding day? We also wanted to make sure to incorporate things from each of our parents weddings. We had an ice sculpture very similar to the one my parents had 30 years ago. We also had the song Can’t Help Falling In love instrumentally play while guests were being seated at the church because Dane’s parents danced to that at their wedding 30 years ago as well.
Also though – MY MOM. She is so creative and is SO good at finding the perfect pieces for any event. She was amazing at helping me think through and pick out items that would match the theme.
Gown style?
I wanted something to match the style of my mom’s dress. I actually originally wanted to wear her dress, but make changes – it didn’t end up working out so I wanted to choose something with similarities. I FELL IN LOVE with the style and the sleeves. It made me feel so pretty when I walked out of the dressing room.
Favorite moment(s)?
1. Seeing Dane when I walked down the aisle. OMG it was the craziest feeling. Seeing my best friend at the end made it so special.
2. All of our favorite people being there to celebrate.
3. Fr. Tyler Tenbarge (Dane’s cousin) marrying us in Saint Bartholomew.
Funniest moment(s)?
1. Pictures with Chloe our chocolate pup. She is a wild child, but so dang cute! We were afraid she was going to eat the flowers. LOL
2. Belting out I wanna Dance with Somebody by Whitney Houston! Such a classic for all of our friends. SO FUN!
First Dance Songs?
The One – Matt Johnson & John Adams (bride/groom)
Daddy – Abby Anderson (daddy/daughter)
My wish – Rascal Flatts (mother/son)
