Keely + Tim + their pup Walter – fall engagement session at Eagle Creek
I had only chatted with Keely and Tim on the phone about their summer 2020 wedding at Irwin Gardens in Columbus, Indiana. So, it was a pleasure to get to meet them in person over the weekend. We met up on a gorgeous fall morning. They brought along their handsome yet oh so playful pup Walter. I brought along my handsome and oh so playful husband Walter to help wrangle the dog. We hiked a bit around Eagle Creek and I truly enjoyed getting to know the pair. I really look forward to working with them again next year!!
Bride + Groom Q+A
How did you two meet?
We met in college, in the theatre department. I had a super dumb crush on Tim when I was a freshman and he was a super-cool senior. We interacted exactly one time. We didn’t see each other for years after that – I lived in LA, he lived in New York – but we both sort of ended up in Chicago. Then, three years ago I was directing a play about the Russian Revolution and I needed an actor for the lead and somebody mentioned Tim. He auditioned, he was great, he was hired – and all of a sudden we were friends.
First Date?
We went on a lot of walks as friends. I didn’t figure out til after the play opened that I was being quietly courted, which is great, because I would have ruined it. All of our first dates – official or otherwise – were just walks along the lake. It was the best.
How did Tim propose?
He had a puzzle made that said “I’m so glad you’re home.” It’s a phrase we have a nerdy affection for because it has a double meaning – we’d say it when the other had made it back from a long trip, or gotten home safely at the end of the night but also in celebration of this feeling we had – like the other person was home. (I was always afraid that in a big moment I would freeze and show no emotion, but turns out I was totally a crier. I said yes and we went out for ice cream, and I was still laughing-crying a little bit when I ordered it.)
Wedding plans?
We’re getting married in June in a garden, and then hopefully dancing a whole lot in a loft with all our favorite people!
