How cute are Shelby, Ryan, and their rambunctious Bernese Mountain dog pup Gryffin? I was super excited to meet their 6 month old pup as well as capture gorgeous fall portraits for the lovely couple. Despite having a few rain drops, the weather held out. I can’t wait to work with Shelby and Ryan again next June!
Q+A from the couple:
How did you two meet? We first met in high school. We had a group of mutual friends, and had always gotten along well, but didn’t become close until summer breaks home from college. Despite going to rival universities (Ryan at IU and me at Purdue), we became best friends and eventually started dating just before my junior year and Ryan’s senior year of college.
First date? It’s hard to tack down exactly when we went from hanging out as just best friends to dating, but we both count our first official date as going to play a round of putt-putt, loser had to buy slushies.
How did Ryan propose?
How did he propose? On a random Thursday in December, Ryan had the day off from work and I was on winter break, so we decided to make the most of our time off. We went to Dave and Buster’s to play some games (one of my favorite things to do), went to Easley Winery, and then went to dinner downtown. At this point, I said this had been “the best day ever,” but I had no idea that Ryan was planning to propose. After dinner, we walked down to the Circle of Lights at Monument Circle where Ryan proposed! He planned such a fun day and an even better surprise!
Wedding plans? We are getting married on June 1st, 2019 at the Ritz Charles in Carmel. We absolutely love the outdoorsy feel of the Garden Pavilion and can’t wait to celebrate there with our families and friends!
