Erica and Brandon’s Harrison Lake Country Club Wedding
Throughout the planning process, you could feel Erica and Brandon’s excitement in every email. These two are so fun, kind, and wonderful to be around. This couple was so overjoyed to get married that even a tropical storm couldn’t bring them down. They braved the rain a few times for some EPIC night portraits. I love and appreciate a couple that will allow me to go the extra mile.
There were several sentimental details included throughout their day. The bride wore her mom’s veil as well as a stunning aquamarine ring that her grandmother had worn. Erica was absolutely gorgeous in her Essence of Australia gown, too! The reception took place at the country club that Erica had worked at in high school, too. The ceremony took place at St Peter’s where the bride and family have been members for 3 generations! I adore when couple’s add their own special touches like these!
Q+A with Bride Erica:
Overview of the day?
We chose September 8, 2018 as our wedding date because we both wanted a fall wedding, and since we started dating September 2016 and got engaged September 2017, September felt like the right month. Shortly after picking the date and the location we reached out to what we felt was “the dream team” of vendors based on weddings we have gone to and recommendations from trusted friends. We wouldn’t have changed a single vendor we used (with the exception of Erica’s dress alterations place – HA!! – don’t have to include that, just for giggles since you know the story). Everyone was top notch and our day went so incredibly smoothly because of it. We got so many compliments all day long on our hair and makeup, the flowers, the décor at the country club, the food, the bridal party clothes, the music…everything! We really did have the dream team. Check out the vendor list Stacy included in her blog – we would highly recommend everyone we worked with to anyone getting married in the Columbus/Indianapolis area. Especially Stacy – the night time rain photos she captured should make every bride pray for rain on their wedding day vs. the other way around!!
We really wanted our day to look and feel classy and elegant and fun. We both love the color blue, so we went with a classic navy blue and gold primary color scheme, with pops of white, pink and green in the florals. We wanted a lot of candles and warm lighting at the reception to accent the gold colors used throughout our décor. We couldn’t have been happier with how it turned out. Everything from my dress to the bridal party’s clothes to the flowers to the décor turned out exactly as we pictured it.
Favorite moment(s)?
There are so many, it’s hard to choose! I think we would both say we enjoyed the time we got to spend with our bridal party getting ready in the morning immensely. That is such special time with our best friends we will always cherish. Also, we are so glad we did a first look! We both agree that was one of our favorite moments of the day – and Brandon’s reaction to seeing me for the first time brought everyone in our bridal party to tears! That’s a moment I know I will vividly remember for the rest of my life. We’d also both say the first dance and dancing with our dad and mom are really special moments to us. Those are the little moments you look forward to for so long, so it was wonderful to finally get to experience them! Also (one more) our best man and matron of honor killed their speeches – they brought the house down and had us, and everyone in the room, laughing and crying the whole time. We are lucky to have such incredible friends!
Funniest moment(s)?
Overall, the fact that it didn’t stop raining for even one second all day long is pretty hilarious to me. I say that, because for months we prayed and hoped we would have perfect fall weather on our wedding day and I thought for the longest time that I’d be devastated if it rained because we had all these plans for pretty outdoor pictures…so you’d think when I woke up and realized there was zero chance of that happening I’d be upset…but I couldn’t have cared less! I was so blissfully happy to be marrying Brandon and having all our friends and family in town to celebrate with us that it didn’t even phase me. Sure, I would have loved to get photos in the places we planned, but if it had been perfect weather,we wouldn’t have gotten the epic night time rain shots that Stacy captured and those are (so far) my favorite images from the day. What a cool way to remember our rainy wedding day!
