Hilton Head South Carolina Engagement Photography

Taylor is from New Hampshire and Ryan is from South Carolina. The adorable pair met while at University of South Carolina (Clemson’s friendly rival school). Since their wedding will take place next 4th of July in New England, it was fitting for their engagement portraits to take place in Ryan’s hometown of Bluffton and neighboring Hilton Head South Carolina. Thankfully the weather held out as we were dodging pop up storms. I really enjoyed meeting the pair and wandering the South Carolina beach towns. I can not wait until their summer 2019 celebrations!!

Q+A with Bride and Groom to be Taylor and Ryan:

How did you two meet?
Ryan: I was having a get together at my apartment my sophomore year of college and invited one of my friends from my home town. My friend brought her roommate and it happened to be Taylor. When she walked in the door I was dancing and she fell in love with my dance moves. We really connected when we snuck into an abandoned insane asylum one night. She was scared and I grabbed her hand and we have been in love ever since.

Taylor: Ryan and I met during my junior year, his sophomore year of college at USC. He was friends with one of my old roommates and was having people over at his apartment. We decided to stop by. When I walked in I noticed him doing the stanky leg dance move and I was impressed! We talked a little bit that night but started hanging out more with our group of friends after that.
One night we decided to go get ice cream and explore an abandoned insane asylum (yes… this was as creepy as it sounds). We held hands and from there the rest is history!

How did he propose?
Ryan: After convincing Taylor to travel up to NH to hang with her family on Labor Day, I planned the proposal with the help of her sister. We went and had lunch in Portsmouth and after lunch we took a walk to a park on the water. We walked to the end of the pier and after a few awkward moments I popped the question! Her sister was in a disguise photographing the whole thing. That evening we celebrated with Taylor’s family and friends!

Taylor: Ryan planned a trip up to New Hampshire to visit my family over Labor Day weekend. He took me to lunch in Portsmouth on the water and insisted on walking to a park nearby. We wandered down a pier until we were by ourselves, he got down on one knee and popped the question! I found out after the fact my sister was actually in a disguise taking pictures. We FaceTimed his family and met mine for dinner that night, it was so special!!

Wedding plans:
Ryan: Our wedding will be at Dexter’s Inn in Sunapee, Nh over 4th of July weekend. With such a unique venue like Dexter’s, we can utilize the entire property for a number of different activities over the weekend such as hiking in the nearby mountains and playing lawn games with friends and family. When it comes to the wedding, I believe that it will be simple but elegant having the ceremony overlooking beautiful lake sunapee. Since we love to have a good time, our reception will not be a disappointment. Lots of fun and dancing while celebrating with the ones we love most!

Taylor: We are planning a wedding weekend at Dexter’s Inn in Sunapee, NH. It’s a cute bed and breakfast that will allow us to spend some extra time with friends and family before we say “I do”. We love spending time with our loved ones, hiking and celebrating so Dexter’s felt like the perfect fit! Our ceremony will overlook Mount Sunapee and Lake Sunapee. Following that, our reception will be an elegant tented event that we plan to dance the night away at!
