Historic Ambassador House and Heritage Gardens Summer Wedding

Haley & Blair’s Historic Ambassador House and Heritage Gardens Outdoor Summer Wedding

Smitten like a Kitten. Taken from the best man’s speech about Blair’s love for Haley, this quote brought laughter and truth. It also describes my adoration for this couple. Haley and Blair are such a genuine, kind, and not to mention together they are an adorable couple.

Minus a minor thunder/lightening storm towards the end of the evening, Haley and Blair had a epic summer wedding at the Historic Ambassador House in Fishers. Accompanied by friends and family, they exchanged the most heartfelt vows I’ve heard in a long while. Haley was a vision in her Monique Lhuillier lace mermaid style gown, “I Do” Betsy Johnson kitten heels, and her signature curls. I can’t forget to mention the groom, Blair, who cleaned up well with his dapper suspenders and quirky socks.

A wedding is not all about the details, flowers, or cake, but they outdid themselves. Two words: Gourmet Popsicle. To this foodie, the Nicey Treat popsicle stand on a warm summer evening was wedding perfection. I feel like I hit the wedding jackpot as pair an awesome couple with personalized details made for a wonderful event to document. Thank you Haley and Blair in having Walter and I photograph your big day. You had us smiling and tearing up throughout the day.

Bride & Groom Q&A:

Overview of the day: The day started for me at my mom’s house for breakfast with the girls. It was so nerve-wracking watching all of the storms and rain coming in. I just knew that we would have to do our “plan B” for the rain/storms. Once we got to the venue, the weather was nice and we got ready. The whole morning was such a blur because you’re running from one place to the other, putting things in order – or at least telling someone to – while also trying to look perfect for the ceremony. Morning highlights would have to be the Nicey Treat my mom snuck for me while getting ready and then being able to hold Blair’s hand (while not seeing each other) before the ceremony. The ceremony was just perfect. The flowers were so beautiful, all of our loved ones, and Blair staring at me back at the end of the aisle with tears in his eyes. It all went so fast I barely remember it. I do remember feeling the change from insane nerves to pure and genuine excitement after we read our vows. We were both vibrating at the alter. The evening was just beautiful. While our reception did get cut short because of the storm, about 25-30 stayed and we had a porch party on the front porch of the Ambassador House while it poured around us. Just so wonderful. Wouldn’t change a thing.

How you chose the venue: Blair and I were having trouble finding a venue that fit our personality and vision for our wedding. We wanted something intimate, classy, yet low-key and fun. We were searching furiously online for Indy venues and we found the Ambassador House and Heritage Gardens in an Indy Star article about the hidden wedding gems of Indy! We saw it and it was done.

Decor: Well, my favorite color is gray and surprisingly, I hate pink. But when we started planning the wedding I just wanted something romantic and fun, so I kept gravitating towards a blush color. It still confuses me, but when everything came together, it was just beautiful. My mom just rocked it. She’s so creative and we worked together to create this sort of shabby chic decor. Still in love with it!

Date: July 26, 2014.  The date was purely picked from availability with Blair’s work schedule!

Favorite moment(s): My favorite moments of the day… so many. The entire ceremony, the porch party, the sparkler “exit” that happened 3 times, … pretty much the whole day was my favorite!

Funniest moment(s): Three of the funniest moments would have the be Blair spilling all of his soil for the family tree ceremony all over our vow booklets and table; my dad’s excuse of dancing, and the best man’s speech. All so hilarious.

First Dance Songs? Our first dance song was “Last First Kiss” by Ron Pope
