Natalie + Dave’s Fall Newfields Indianapolis Engagement Session
After I initially met Natalie and Dave to chat about their spring 2020 Indianapolis wedding, I know these two would be a fun to photograph. They were just that during their fall engagement portrait session. We had such a gorgeous, sunny, fall day on the art museum grounds at Newfields. These two are so natural together. Their candid moments were all them. We walked a few miles that afternoon as we had so much ground to cover and they didn’t complain one bit. It was fun to stop at various points, get to know the two, and capture heaps of favorites images that you will see above. I can not WAIT for their wedding next year at the Neidhammer. I know I will be smiling the entire time as couples like these two make me love my job all the more.

How did you two meet? We met at Crew Carwash two years ago. I [Natalie] was getting my 1989 Ford Ranger washed and he was the one taking my payment. He walked up to me while I was vacuuming my car and asked if I came around there often. Honestly I would get my car washed once a year, so lucky me that we met! He asked how the whitewalls on my tires looked, and we’ve been inseparable ever since.
First date? Our first date was at Shallos Antique Restaurant in Greenwood. On our first date, being the dork that I [Dave] am, I jokingly asked her to marry me after finding out her favorite band was also Twenty One Pilots. Two years and many Twenty One Pilots memories later I had the opportunity to ask her again but this time for real.
How did Dave propose: Dave proposed before the Twenty One Pilots concert, which is both of our favorite bands. We were walking past the line of fans waiting to get in, and Dave’s brother, Christopher, came out of the crowd playing a ukulele. Dave started singing “Can’t Help Falling in Love” and the entire crowd joined in. Apparently Christopher and Dave’s sister, Tiffany were there beforehand and let the crowd know what was going to happen. This song is significant because the Twenty One Pilots singer, Tyler does a cover of “Can’t Help Falling in Love”, so most of the fans know this and already knew the words to sing along. I felt like I was in a movie. After the song he got down on one knee and asked the question. ♥️ Here’s the video:
Wedding plans? We are getting married in May at the Neidhammer. It is a unique, artsy venue. We are looking forward to a beautiful day with lots of sweet moments and happiness shared with friends and family.
