Amanda + Rob’s IMA Engagement Session
The pair met through mutual friends. It was over Labor Day weekend 2011. At the time, Amanda was living in Indianapolis and Rob in Chicago. By some lucky twist of fate, we found each other at the same party in downtown Chicago despite Rob leaving early that night to manage a band. We remained friends for several months thereafter, reconnecting when the Super Bowl came to Indianapolis and the rest is history. We are overwhelmingly thankful to have been friends first and then partners by virtue of that friendship.
Like many proposals, there were many ideas. After Amanda unknowingly postponed plan A, the proposal was created over a quick cup of coffee.
Plan A included reservations at RM Champaign Salon and those reservations quickly became Plan B. It was a fall weekend in October and she had no idea that night was the night she would say “Yes.” The evening was perfect. On the way to the restaurant we walked down their rustic cobblestone alleyway strung with Edison lights, headed for the entrance. I had decorated the cobblestone hours earlier with our names and the date in chalk. As we approached the entrance, the building’s wall came into view and it too was decorated with our names and the date. She didn’t notice it at first (headed straight for the oysters and champaign inside), so I pulled her aside. Standing together, I expressed my love and intention to marry her. On one knee I asked, “Will you marry me?” She was speechless, immediately said “yes” and all but forgot about the ring.
The engagement ring was a joint vision but ultimately Rob’s creation. We visited a family jeweler to try different stone and band combinations. We walked in thinking round brilliant and walked out knowing that an oval cut was the absolutely right choice. From there Rob found a jeweler in downtown Chicago and created the ring from the ground up. It’s nothing short of amazing!
We are tying the knot on a beautiful May afternoon in 2016 at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Carmel. Their wedding portraits will also take place at the Indianapolis Museum of Art. After the ceremony our whimsical, floral wedding will continue at the Ritz Charles Garden Pavilion where we will celebrate our marriage with our most beloved friends and family.
