Katie + Brian’s 12.2.2017 Winter Wedding at the Mavris Arts & Event Center in Indianapolis Indiana

Katie and Brian met while working at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. You may remember this adorable couple from their epic engagement portraits which were taken at the infamous Speedway. I have been patiently waiting for their winter wedding at the Mavris Arts & Event Center in Indianapolis as I knew it was going to be fun!

Their family and friends were all so warm and welcoming. We also completely lucked out weather wise with a 55 degree day. The florals and greenery by Violets are Blue could not have been more lush and unique! Katie and Brian ended their evening driving off in a vintage Rolls Royce which was fitting for a couple that met at the track!

Couple Q+A:

Overview of your day? In January when we were looking at venues, Brian suggested looking at the Mavris because he loved the exposed brick and wood floors. Once we saw it, we didn’t need to see another venue (actually, it was the only venue we looked at). The only date they had left in 2017 was December 2nd which worked perfectly for us. The day was everything we hoped it would be and more. The Mavris did an incredible job and were super accommodating. They helped make it a perfect day.

What inspired your wedding style? When searching color schemes, I realized I was attracted most to Navy and Burgundy. Brian wanted a lot of greenery which Violets Are Blue helped tremendously with! They also helped make my vision of using bourbon and wine bottles as centerpieces a reality.

Anecdotes about your gown? I found my gown in under an hour. I think it was the 5th or 6th one I tried on and after I tried it on I knew it was the one! The dress was perfect for the Mavris and for a winter wedding.

Favorite moment(s)? The whole day and night was so wonderful but I think getting into the Rolls Royce at the end of the night was our favorite moment. We got laugh and recap the day while driving around downtown and drinking champagne!

Funniest moment(s)? We didn’t practice exactly what we were saying during the ceremony at the rehearsal dinner, so when we got to the vows, I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to say, “Yes or I do” which resulted in laughter from our friends and family. The best man speech from our good friend Dan was also a hilarious moment!

First Dance Songs? We danced to “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran. It was so fun to laugh and really enjoy that moment together!
