I adore New Years Eve weddings. Capturing the sparkle, revelry, and the new year’s anticipation is always a great time. Gabby and Kyle’s NYE celebrations were nothing short of spectacular. They were also a dream to work with! Their reception at Lindley Farms was jaw dropping gorgeous thanks to Detail and Design. Gabby was a vision in her Pronovias gown and Kyle was equally as dapper. Their Cardigan Corgie pup, Norm, joined in for a few portraits as well. We had some rain that morning and these two were not even phased. They were so sweet, fun, and easy going throughout. Thank you both for having Walter and I capture your day!

Q+A with Bride Gabby:
The day was AMAZING! We were completely floored when we walked inside of the barn to see it for the first time. It surpassed everything we could have ever imagined and we truly worked with a dream team of vendors. We were so happy that we were able to incorporate ‘surprises’ for the guests by first having cocktail hour in the cellar downstairs and then turning that into a New Years Eve/dance floor party after dinner.
Lindley Farmstead at Chatham Hills was an easy choice for us to pick as our wedding venue. We saw the venue right after it had opened to the public and I believe at that time, there had only been one wedding held there. We loved that it was a more modern take on a barn and we would be working with a blank slate of a space rather than working with a venue that already had a look and feel to it.
An added bonus, since Lindley was brand new, many, if not all of our guests, had never stepped foot inside of this venue. We loved the idea that our guests wouldn’t know what to expect until they walked in the door the night of the wedding.
What inspired your wedding style?
The primary theme of the wedding was a ‘winter wedding’ that was happening on New Year’s Eve. This inspired a lot of the decor with soft hues of muted blues, greys and neutral (bridesmaid dresses) as well as incorporating a lot of greenery and white flowers for the bouquets and centerpieces. We incorporated linen with silve/grey/white and chargers mixed between a soft gold hue and crystal to add more color into the barn while arranging a mix of farm tables and round tables to add dimension.
Anecdotes about your gown?
I loved both of my dresses so much! The best way to describe my style is traditional, yet modern, and I think both of my dresses summed this up nicely. My first dress was an Atelier Pronovias and incorporated detailed sequence designs, 3/4 sleeves, a mesh front and back and buttons from my head to the tail of my dress. The second dress was from BHLDN and something much more free-flowing, easy to dance in and 100% Meghan Markle inspired with a mock neck, open back and front slit.
Favorite moment(s)?
My first look with Kyle, spending time with our wedding party before the reception started, everyone’s speeches!!! and tearing up the dance floor with all of our closest friends and family
Funniest moment(s)?
Close to midnight, I was taking a look around me and noticed my Iowa friends started a big circle dancing around a beer bottle and trying not to kick it over (Iowa tradition and what we do at weddings to get a dance party going) and then looked over at the Kyle’s friends, the Purdue crew, and saw they had hoisted up one of the guys and had him basically body surfing the crowd and thought to myself….yep, couldn’t have pictured this any better myself!
