Michaela + Joe’s 12.31.31 New Years Eve Ritz Charles Wedding in Carmel, Indiana
Couple QA:
Overview: We looked at a few of the major venues around the greater Indianapolis area and one of the things that really stuck out to us was the Wedding Chapel. Our church in Indianapolis does not allow for weddings so we wanted to find a chapel and the chapel we found at the Ritz is beautiful! We really wanted the focus of the wedding to not be on us which is why we picked New Years Eve; we wanted it to be a celebration of our love and the new year! Overall the day was perfect to us and went off without a hitch. From getting ready, to pictures with our amazing photographer, to the ceremony and reception it was all perfect!
Having the wedding on New Year’s Eve definitely helped narrow down our overall style. Being at night and in the winter, we wanted it to feel classy and elegant, but also like a big celebration pairing it with the holiday.
Your gown? I’ll try to keep this short! After narrowing it down to two Eve of Milady dresses, coincidentally the same designer as my mom’s wedding dress, we decided to make a custom dress with the fabric from one dress and the fit/style of the other. Measurements were taken and sent to the designer. Several months later, the dress was ready for me to try on. I step into the dress and remember having to wiggle into the dress a little, but this time it was different. I wasn’t able to pull the dress all the way up and it wouldn’t even begin to zip over my butt! Luckily, my measurements did not change, but that did mean the dress needed to change. Clearly it all worked out and I have grown to appreciate my gown even more after all the time and effort put towards it. And I wouldn’t want it any other way!
Favorite and Funniest moments? To name a few, our favorite moments included our first look, our father/daughter and mother/son dances and the balloon drop at midnight. One of our favorite unplanned moments included our band, My Yellow Rickshaw, and guests giving a blessing over us as a couple after we rang in the new year.
The dance floor – the whole night! The band’s music brought out the fun, goofiness of everyone and it was a constant good time with plenty of laughs. People were rocking the New Year’s party favors, dance floor flip flops and good moves. So much fun and many memories were made there.
