Summer Traders Point Creamery Indiana Wedding
Sara and Alex’s Traders Point Creamery June wedding was a gorgeous, relaxed, summer soirée. The morning storm made things a touch damp, but the skies turned a lovely shade of blue in the afternoon. The result was a cool, breezy, part outdoor / part barn wedding. The couple could also not have been more relaxed. Sara looked absolutely stunning in her Adrianna Papell Cap Sleeve gown. Her 1920s finger wave hair was a perfect compliment. Alex looked dashing as well in his dark suit. I can’t forget to mention their spunky daughter Vivienne. She was the adorable life of the party. She even wove in and out of the ceremony which made for some great laughs.
The last photo I took of the night is one of my new favorite images! Thank you two for taking a quick break from the party. The result makes my photographer heart all warm and fuzzy.
From the Bride and Groom:
Alex and I chose Traders Point Creamery because throughout our 7 years of dating, it’s one of our favorite spots in Indianapolis for a relaxed, yummy brunch, or a nice, romantic dinner. The folks at TPC were great to work with from start to finish, and genuinely seemed excited for us. They wanted our day to be perfect. As the week leading up to the wedding marched on, the weather forecast was grim, predicting up to 90% chance of rain for June 4th, which put a big damper on our plans to have the reception on the Lawn and Garden. We reluctantly accepted that we’d have to move to the Big Red Barn, but happily it turned out more beautiful than we could have imagined. As monsoon-level downpours happened outside, final preparations were completed. The rain stopped and the sun started to peek out as we began an intimate ceremony in the Roost with our immediately family, with our 2-year-old daughter Vivienne joining in. Our wonderful friends, Garrett and Adrienne, were our officiant and reader, respectively, and the tiny ceremony was just what we wanted. Afterwards, we joined our extended family and friends for a fun-filled reception in the barn. As we were getting married, they had been arriving to the barn and enjoying a welcome drink of Pisco Sour on the rocks, an adaptation of a drink we had recently learned about and enjoyed during an amazing, once-of-lifetime pre-wedding “honeymoon” with friends and family to Chile and Argentina. Yum! Decor was chosen based partially on my non-traditional, Art Deco-inspired wedding dress. It reminded us of The Great Gatsby or Downton Abbey, so we kept that somewhat formal look by choosing neutral linens and chairs in black, grey, and white, and asked our florist to bring in color with her flower arrangements down the middle of the long tables. We love herbs (rosemary, in particular, is my favorite), so the florist also incorporated rosemary, mint, etc into the arrangements and into the place setting decor. A jazz band set the mood and seemed to get everyone into a party atmosphere. Dinner was amazing, with melt-in your mouth salmon and decadent Mac ‘n cheese, amongst other options. We somehow managed to pull off a Great Gatsby-inspired party in the middle of a rustic barn on a dairy farm – unique and beautiful, in our opinion!
Favorite moments: Vivienne joining us during the ceremony (impromptu) and all three of us holding hands, crazy rainstorm just prior to the ceremony (making us feel good about decision to move indoors), photobombing cat, our vows, father-daughter dance to our favorite Sonny Rollins tune, first dance, and feeling like professional models for a couple of hours (lol)!
